MONISMUS DUALISMUS
Monism and dualism are fundamental concepts that play a role in various fields such as philosophy, religion, spirituality, and science.
While dualism postulates the existence of two opposing principles, unity or monism emphasizes the idea that everything ultimately traces back to a single fundamental substance, essence, or reality. In the monistic approach, the diversity and opposition of the world are viewed as illusions that can ultimately be reduced to a single unity. It is assumed that everything is connected and originates from the same source. In this perspective, there is no fundamental separation between mind and matter, good and evil, or other opposites, but rather a deep unity that permeates everything. Conversely, dualism emphasizes the existence and contrast of these two fundamental components, suggesting that both substances exist independently and interact.
The artwork, consisting of 9 art pieces, depicts a central square surrounded by interwoven, organic lines.
From a dualistic perspective, the central square appears distinctly separated from the surrounding flowing lines. This clear distinction between the strict geometry of the square and the freely flowing forms of the lines emphasizes the idea of dualism – the existence of opposites and differences.
Alternatively, adopting a monistic viewpoint reveals a different interpretation: the central square is seen as a symbol of the world, embedded within the dynamic network of surrounding lines. These lines represent the diverse events and influences that encompass us. In this perspective, the square and the organic forms merge into a harmonious whole, illustrating the deep interconnectedness and unity of all things.
The integration of unity and duality can lead to a more comprehensive understanding of the world and the self.
